9/11
I will never forget where I was when I heard about 9/11. I was driving home from a mammogram when I heard the radio talking about a plane flying into the twin towers. I rushed into the house to turn on CNN and watched in horror and disbelief as the news unfolded.
Later, after lunch, I kept my appointment to arrive at my assigned school for my first day of student teaching. Needless to say, I didn't observe anything being taught that day as the faculty tried to help students get through the afternoon.
Everyone who reads this will have their own memories of that terrible day. Many of you will have rushed to help. Some will have joined the military to keep us safe from future attacks. Others will have prayed, sent money to the Red Cross, reached out to neighbors who lost loved ones.
I just saw a video on the Tales and Tails blog paying tribute to the search and rescue dogs and therapy dogs who tirelessly served in the wake of 9/11. Click here to watch the video. It is moving and dignified. It made me cry. It is brief. I don't think anyone will be sorry they saw it. Thank you, Tales and Tails.

Monday Mischief/Back to School Blues
I haven't been keeping up with the blogs I follow or posting new things lately. Returning to work two weeks ago was an adjustment. I forget every summer how exhausting school is. In a nutshell, I've been too busy and too tired. Hopefully I'll get back in the swing soon and have a life outside school again! :)
My oldest daughter, Amber, invited me and her sister Lauren to come over to her apartment on Saturday and make jewelry! She had all of her supplies ready when we arrived, and we spent about 4 hours together. Amber had made mini frittatas, mimosas, and fresh fruit for a nice brunch, and then it was time to make jewelry. We did a lot of talking and catching up, and it was so neat to have a "girls day in".
So anyway, while I was there I asked Amber if I could borrow her new blu-ray dvd of The Hunger Games. I read the books and couldn't put them down, so I've been curious about the movie version. Well. Looks like I'll be purchasing this one after all. Toby the Little Terrorist struck again.
Amber adds a clasp to one of our creations. |

New items for my jewelry box. |
There used to be a whole box around the dvd case. You can't see the tooth holes punched through the plastic. Monday Mischief! |
