SnOh-Boy!
Here in southeastern Virginia snow is a rare event. Snow that accumulates is even rarer! However, this week's arctic blast brought us a winter wonderland! Like most sporting-breed dogs, Toby loves the cold and snow. We needed hiking boots on the icy streets but Toby seemed right at home on his paw pads.

| "Yes please!" |
We set out, with me lagging a bit behind to take pictures of the white magic...

| I didn't alter the photo - A week ago it was in the 70's and our quinces began to bloom... |

| A neighbor's flag captures the theme of the day... |
Then Toby began to have adventures as usual!

| "Rabbit alert!" (was it reading the paper?) |
 |
| 'Frosty paws' - but not the famous treat... |
 |
| "Intruder!!!" The body language says it all - hackles raised, back feet poised for retreat. |
 |
| Scary - until he tried to eat Mr. Snowman's carrot nose! |
 |
| This cactus plant copes with the freezing temperatures... |
 |
| ...and so do the palm trees. |
And then, to Toby's delight, he meets a friend!

| "Ginger! Hey Ginger! Wanna be my Valentine?" |
 |
| "See you on Valentine's Day, Ginger!" |

Wordless Wednesday (almost) - Wallflower?
Toby has taken over today's post as he feels I have seriously let him down and ruined his social life.
OMD! My mom got so preoccupied that she neglected to check her favorite blogs for a couple of weeks (she's so slow to take a hint, even nose-nudges didn't work).
And Alas! When she finally gets back on track, there is a Valentines Ball and I missed the invitation! Now everyone is finding dates to the ball and I will be stuck nibbling my Nylabone in my crate instead. It's all her fault. How will I ever forgive her?

Making Time for Mischief - ie. Retirement
2
: a place of seclusion or privacy
One week from today I will end my career as a
public school teacher. I'll be able to do all the things
I never have time for - in fact I already have a long
list going! My top ten things include finding an
agility or other training class for Toby and moving
our therapy dog gig to daytime. And no question,
I'm looking forward to taking a morning walk on
the spring days that are just about here!
Toby, what are you going to think when I'm no
longer gone for 9 hours a day?

| You could start a new career as a doorman, |
 |
| and you could be my own personal playtime companion - |
 |
| or maybe you could join me outside if it's sunny- |
 |
| -exactly like this... |
 |
| and we can visit the hospital more often- |
 |
| and maybe even let kids read to me at the library! |

| Hmm, yes that does sound nice... |
 |
| Let's go!" |
Yes, I'm ready to start the next
